This book is a must read for anyone interested in a serious exposition on the philosophies behind Freemasonry and the way in which these ideas influenced Masons with regard to the evolution of the Fraternity as well as the greater historical and social implications. I don't know that I've ever read a book that was so detailed and well-researched in most of the areas that are covered. In many respects, the book reads like an academic treatise, but Sullivan also extends his exploration of Masonic symbolism into the present day, pointing out the ubiquitous nature of esoteric symbolism in mainstream culture, especially the entertainment industry.Sullivan's tremendous scholarship was apparent even before considering his main thesis - that the apocryphal Book of Enoch was the direct source for the Royal Arch degree(s) - which is definitely controversial. Whether or not you agree with Sullivan's conclusion is almost beside the point because the evidence he presents is so compelling and his argument so provocative. My husband has been studying Masonry for years and decided to join his local lodge. Since I couldn't join Masonry I joined the Eastern Star but I'm more interested in Masonry than anything else. This is by far the most in depth book we've read on the subject and really gives a lot of insight into the higher degrees. The Royal Arch is definitely a book for those who are interested in the esoteric meaning and mystery school teachings of Freemasonry. It would take years for a person to research the information in this book and you can tell the author really understands the deeper meanings of Masonic symbolism, degrees, and rituals. We are giving copies to his brothers at the lodge as Christmas presents. The contents of the book could easily take up three volumes with the amount of information and illustrations. I was initially a bit apprehensive about the price until I got a copy in my hands and realized how extensive it is. Highly recommended.
An enormous amount of work went into this book. It is laborsome to read and extraordinarily circumstantial. I found the introduction wearisome and boring. The author struggles to make the points. I found myself having to set the book aside frequently in order to wade through to the end. The author's use of language will deter most members of the Craft from ever reading this work. In the next edition it would be well to simplify the text remembering who the audience is that might be interested in this book.
For the Esoteric Mason, this book is a key to the door of hidden truths of the many subjects within Freemasonry. This Author is truly a Modern day Albert Pike and is at the forefront of Esoteric Masonic Material and his in depth knowledge on such subjects will enhance the consciousness of the all ready initiated mind. There is so much material contained on these pages that you may need to refer to it later on in your journeys. Such a beautiful big book, perfect for your Lodges Library and for sharing as discussion topics within your own Lodge.
This book is a must read for any Mason who is interested in the Esoterics surrounding our craft. Robert has a very easy to follow writing style. He's thorough in his research and his opinions are spot on. It is a bit of a read, but I assure you, it's well worth it.

Wonderful read, from start, to finish.I've read many books on Free Masonry, but this one has more details in it, than any of them.Get this, & Genesis 6 Conspiracy, & you probably won't need to ever purchase another book on the subject.
So far very interesting
Kindle version is very poor. Transcription is bad with little punctuation and words either omitted or misspelt resulting in having to repeatedly reread to try and make sense. The whole book is riddled with the above.
