It's a good textbook especially for this class, it has everything I need within it and even inspired some great ideas for english club events, it also helped to inspire my "to be read" list with fascinating stories like the metamorphosis by Franze Kafka and others, Sor Juana will always be a new personal favorite. I would recommend this for anyone who needs a good textbook for their world literature class or just for fun, there are whole worlds of writing to explore within this book, when they say adventure is out there they mean it.
I was surprised to find both the content in this series vast, and enjoyable. The class was equally so. They cover many different religions and cultures, and although it was only a basics class the content was enthralling. I felt it exposed me to a lot of poetry I still remember to this day, and the Gita, which are all neat things to read about and analyze.
First off—exceptional packaging and the "used" text was in better condition than expected (for the used condition listed as being "good", this looks new, but with slight wear at one corner). Five stars~Purchased this text for a class, but it has a good collection of the more renowned literatures of world cultures, histories, mythos, etc. Translation is read easily, though perhaps some of the original "poeticism" of the older styles (e.g. Old English, etc.) was lightened (likely, for student comprehension).Still, I look forward to rediscovering some of the old epics through a new publishing.
Purchased this book for my World Literature Class. This book is great. It's packed with stories from around the world translated to English. Anyone who is into reading would enjoy this book. It's filled also with a good biography of the author before their writing. There's also poems.
This one was in a little bit better condition than Vol. 1, but it is readable and will definitely get the job done. :) Thanks!
A textbook rental for my wife. When I saw the contents, I seriously thought about paying the extra and keeping it. Amazon's textbook rental system is superb, and I would suggest it to anyone who has the odd desire to avoid paying huge prices for books they are likely to never read again.
